PGT-A

Why Consider Sperm Freezing?

PGT-A, formerly known as PGS (Preimplantation Genetic Screening), focuses on the screening of embryos for numerical chromosomal abnormalities, known as aneuploidies. These abnormalities, such as extra or missing chromosomes, are often associated with failed implantation, miscarriages, or certain genetic disorders.

Certain medical treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy, can pose a risk to fertility by affecting sperm production. By freezing your sperm before undergoing these treatments, you can preserve your ability to have biological children in the future.
Men working in occupations or industries that expose them to hazardous environments or chemicals might choose sperm freezing as a precautionary measure. Similarly, military personnel facing deployment or individuals planning to travel to regions where fertility risks are high may opt for sperm freezing to protect their fertility.
Sperm freezing is also beneficial for individuals or couples planning to undergo assisted reproductive technologies, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). By freezing sperm ahead of time, you can ensure a readily available and viable sperm sample for these procedures.

2. PGT-A (Aneuploidy Screening)

  1. Increased Pregnancy Success:
PGT-A helps identify chromosomally normal embryos, increasing the chances of successful implantation and reducing the risk of miscarriage.
  2. Reduced Risk of Genetic Disorders:
PGT-A can identify embryos with significant chromosomal abnormalities, allowing the selection of embryos free from common aneuploidies such as Down syndrome, Turner syndrome, or other chromosomal disorders.

Mosaicism:
PGT-A may encounter mosaic results, where embryos exhibit a mixture of normal and abnormal cells. The clinical significance and implantation potential of mosaic embryos are still under debate, and further testing or consultation with a genetic counselor may be recommended.

The Sperm Freezing Process?

Consultation and Semen Analysis

Your journey begins with an initial consultation with our fertility specialists. We will discuss your medical history, conduct a comprehensive semen analysis to assess sperm quality, and provide guidance on the sperm freezing process.

Semen Collection

Sperm for freezing is typically collected through masturbation. Our facilities provide private and comfortable rooms where you can produce a semen sample. If collection on-site is not feasible, we can provide instructions for collecting the sample at home and safely transporting it to our laboratory.

Semen Processing

Once the sample is collected, our experienced laboratory staff will process it to separate the sperm from other fluids and optimize its quality for freezing. Various techniques, such as density gradient centrifugation, may be employed to enhance sperm quality and remove any potential contaminants.

Cryopreservation

The processed sperm sample is mixed with a cryoprotectant solution to protect the sperm during freezing. It is then divided into vials or straws and slowly cooled to ultra-low temperatures using a process called controlled-rate freezing. This ensures the preservation of sperm viability and function.

Storage

The frozen sperm samples are carefully stored in our state-of-the-art cryopreservation facilities, which are designed to maintain stable and controlled conditions. Our facilities employ advanced technology and adhere to strict protocols to ensure the long-term viability and security of your frozen sperm
